Trip overview

Spiti is the most dramatic landscape most travelers have never heard of — a high-altitude desert tucked between the Greater Himalayas and Tibet. Our June–July expedition is timed for the narrow summer window when the passes open and the valley comes alive with wildflowers. You'll visit 1,000-year-old monasteries, mail a postcard from the world's highest post office, and share meals with families in remote homestays. Expert Himalayan guides, careful altitude acclimatization, and comfortable overnight stays throughout.

Route
Delhi → Shimla → Chitkul → Tabo → Kaza → Kalpa → Shimla → Delhi

Trip highlights

  • Chitkul — the last Indian village before Tibet
  • Key Monastery perched on a Himalayan ridge
  • Hikkim (world's highest post office) & Komic (highest motorable village)
  • Chicham — one of Asia's highest suspension bridges
  • Tabo Monastery, often called the 'Ajanta of the Himalayas'
